julia child, i am not

i try to cook - really i do. i can say with complete confidence that i was NEVER a cook in a former life. or in this one. perhaps it's the intimidation factor of having a husband who can conjure a gourmet meal out of nearly thin air (all we have is ketchup and mustard? voila! soup!) and the worst (or really best) part is that it tastes WONDERFUL!

on friday, i tried to make a crockpot fried rice dish. (see my friend, sarah's blog - oakbriarfarm - there's a link on the right) i mean, come on, it's the crockpot! you mix it all together and leave it! well, somehow, i screwed it up and we had inedible MUSH and had to call in emergency pizza...

i have to admit, this was not the first meal i have messed up...

i persevere, though i'm not entirely sure why. either i'm persistent or stupid (and i think that there may be a fine line between the two).

the silver lining of my cooking cloud is that jim is a WONDERFUL cook and he can usually save whatever i've messed up (the fried rice was a r.i.p.though). he has been pretty patient with me and only slightly shudders when i say that i am cooking.

at least i am a "good helper" in the kitchen. i entertain him and make sure his wine glass is full while he cooks.

:)

love,
jenn

I bet you just stirred it a little too much - Chris did that once. You have to leave the egg mostly intact. Also, I used brown rice. Maybe that helps?

Emergency pizza sounds good anyhow!
